Chelsea Clinton is going to have a baby.

The daughter of former President Bill Clinton and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton announced Thursday that she is expecting her first child. She announced the big news while on stage with her mom at a women's event in New York.

"Marc and I are very excited that we have our first child arriving later this year," Clinton said.

Just to specify, Chelsea was the one who said that, not Hillary. That would have been a tad awkward.

"And I certainly feel all the better whether it's a girl or a boy that she or he will grow up in a world full of so many strong, young female leaders," Clinton said. "So thank you for inspiring me and thank you for inspiring future generations.

"I just hope I will be as good a mom to my child and hopefully children as my mom was to me."

Clinton married Marc Mezvinsky in 2010. In October, she told Glamour, that the couple wanted to start a family.

Mission accomplished

"So we decided we were going to make 2014 the Year of the Baby," Clinton said.

No one tell my wife that ... please.

Clinton also told the magazine, "Call my mother and tell her that. She asks us about it every single day."

That's right. A cute baby on the campaign trail wouldn't hurt.
