Rock and Roll Hall of Famer David Byrne and some of his talented friends are set to perform the music of William Onyeabor on Tuesday at the Warfield in San Francisco.

It's part of a five-city tour, dubbed Atomic Bomb! The Music of William Onyeabor.

Byrne will be joined onstage by Sinkane, Money Mark, Alexis Taylor (Hot Chip), Kele Okereke (Bloc Party), Pat Mahoney (LCD Soundsystem), Joshua Redman and the legendary Lijadu Sisters of Nigeria, in their first live performances in 30 years, among others.

Don't feel bad if you haven't heard of Onyeabor -- most people, especially in the United States, don't know his name. The artist "self-released eight nearly impossible-to-find albums between 1978 and 1985 in Nigeria, then became Born-Again Christian, turned his back on his work, and refused to speak about it for nearly three decades," according to a new release for the tour.

Last year, Byrne's Luaka Bop label released the Onyeabor compilation "World Psychedelic Classics 5: Who is William Onyeabor?" The album was met with massive critical acclaim, ending up on Time magazine's top 10 albums of the year list and earning Pitchfork's endorsement as the best reissue of 2013.

Show time is 8 p.m. and tickets start at $35, www.axs.com.
