  • "Broadway Idiot: Green Day on Broadway" (8 p.m., Showtime): Can you hear the sound of hysteria? This documentary follows rocker Billie Joe Armstrong as he works with collaborators to transform the band's landmark album, "American Idiot," into a raucous Broadway musical.

  • "The Vampire Diaries" (8 p.m., The CW): Stefan and Elena (Paul Wesley, Nina Dobrev) become stranded in a remote location after escaping from Markos and he decides it's a good time to get philosophical about her relationship with Damon.

  • American Comedy Awards (9 p.m., NBC): We expect a major laugh riot to break out during this trophy fest. It's a celebration of the funniest folks in stand-up, television and films, as decided by fan voting.
