LINCOLN, Neb. -- The No. 13 Stanford softball team lost to No. 16 Nebraska 7-1 Saturday in the Lincoln Regional of the NCAA tournament, and now must beat Northern Iowa or Tulsa Saturday evening to avoid being eliminated.
Stanford senior Teagan Gerhart had a rough game for the Cardinal, yielding two runs on three hits before being replaced by freshman Kelsey Stevens, who gave up five more runs.
Gerhart (20-12) gave up runs in each of the first two innings before Stevens took over. Stevens held the Cornhuskers without a run until the sixth, when they exploded for five runs to put the game away.
Stanford scored its only run in the fifth on an RBI single by Leah White.
