MORAGA -- A trip to the Anaheim Classic, another appearance in the ESPN BracketBusters series and a road game at always-tough Utah State highlighted the men's basketball schedule released by Saint Mary's College on Wednesday.

The season officially starts Nov. 10 when the Gaels host Sonoma State at 7 p.m. Five days later, Saint Mary's travels to Logan to take on a Utah State team that has won 140 of its last 152 games at home. The game is a return matchup from the 2010 ESPN BracketBusters contest played in Moraga.

Thanksgiving weekend offers another challenge for the Gaels, as they head to Southern California to take part in the Anaheim Classic with Cal, Drake, Drexel, Georgia Tech, Pacific, Rice and Xavier. Saint Mary's opens the tournament Nov. 22 at 1:30 p.m. against Drexel.

The holidays will be busy at McKeon Pavilion, starting with a Dec. 27 game against Rhode Island and new coach Dan Hurley. Yale visits on Dec. 30, and 2012 NCAA Tournament participant Harvard will ring in its new year with a Dec. 31 game in Moraga.

The West Coast Conference season begins Jan. 5 at home against Loyola Marymount, then immediately heads north for a Jan. 10 showdown at Gonzaga. The Bulldogs don't visit Moraga until Feb. 14.

The final nonconference test for Saint Mary's comes on Feb. 23 as the Gaels will host an ESPN BracketBusters game. Last year, a banged-up Saint Mary's squad lost its BracketBusters appearance 65-51 at Murray State.

"I'm really happy with our schedule," Gaels coach Randy Bennett said on the school's website. "We have some tough challenges, some good home games and we'll see some teams that are experienced and well-coached. I think we have a team that can handle some challenges early in the season, particularly on the road, that will help us as we prepare for conference play."

  • Saint Mary's won't lack for national television time, as the Gaels will appear on ESPN's family of networks no fewer than 13 times this season. Seven of those appearances will come during the conference season, according to a schedule released by the West Coast Conference on Wednesday.

  • The Gaels' roster for 2012-13 has been finalized, with new additions James Walker, Chris Reyes and Treaven Duffy all now appearing on the school's website. USC transfer Garrett Jackson is also on campus and attending classes, but will not be eligible until the 2013-14 season.
