Write the notice exactly as you would like it to appear and email it to obituaries@bayareanewsgroup.com. You may either send it as a Microsoft Word document or paste the text into the body of the email. If you need assistance composing it see the Writing Guidelines below.

You may also fax your request to (925) 943-8341 or send by mail: Contra Costa Newspapers, Attn: Obituaries, P.O. Box 4718, Walnut Creek, CA 94596. Photos cannot be faxed. Notices will appear in all of the newspapers listed above.

Important:

Your name, address and telephone number must be included with the request. Omission of this information will cause delays in publication. Notices cannot be published without pre-payment so be sure to include contact phone numbers. Please do not email credit card information.

Once we have received your request we will contact you with the total cost. We accept all major credit cards. If you prefer to pay with cash or check you may pay in person at one of our offices during regular business hours. Notices will be published as soon as possible after payment has been received or you may specify a desired publication date.

Photos:

Photos may be emailed along with text as a JPEG or PDF (150-300dpi). The image on the photo should be crisp and clear without any fuzziness. An original photo may also be brought into any of our offices. We will either return it immediately or mail it to you. Photos may not be faxed.

Cut-Off Times: (subject to change during holidays periods) :

Please submit obituary requests no later than noon Monday-Friday for publication the following day. For Sunday-Monday editions, photos must be submitted by noon on Friday, with text no later than 2 p.m. Friday. Funeral Homes using Electronic Obituaries have extended cut-off times. Consult your funeral home for more information.

Writing Guidelines:

  • Submit in paragraph format. Begin with the name of the deceased, followed by date of birth and death (optional), and the city of residence (required).

  • Next you may include some background information hobbies, employment, social or religious affiliations, and military service.

  • List any loved ones who predeceased the individual, then list those who are survivors (last names and city/state of residence of survivors may be included as well).

  • List the time, date and location of both the visitation and the funeral service.

    All paid notices will be available to view online at www.legacy.com for one year after publication.
