Ygnacio Valley High School will hold Back to School Night at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 24.

Eagle Peak plans an open house
Eagle Peak Montessori is holding an open house from 10:30 a.m.-noon Saturday, Oct. 3, at 800 Hutchinson Road, Walnut Creek.
Classrooms will be open and volunteer parents will be available to answer questions.
The school serves children in grades 1-5 in a learning environment based on the Montessori philosophy.
Eagle Peak is the only public charter school in the Mt. Diablo School District.

Alhambra parade for homecoming
Alhambra High School's 2009 Homecoming Parade "Bulldogs Throughout History" will take place Friday, Oct. 23, leaving for Main Street at 3 p.m.
Applications for the parade are available on the current events page at www1.martinez.k12.ca.us/schools/ahs.
Parade organizers are also looking for someone with a convertible that could be used to drive the homecoming court.

Luau benefits YV Music Boosters
The Ygnacio Valley instrumental music boosters will hold their second annual luau from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 3, at Shadelands Ranch Historical Museum, 2660 Ygnacio Valley Road, Walnut Creek. The fundraiser benefits students and the school's music program.
The event will have a Hawaiian-themed buffet of Kalua pork, grilled chicken, white rice, macaroni and green salads, fruit and dessert.
The Tiki bar will serve Hawaiian beverages. Entertainment includes dancers, singers and musicians.
Tickets are $25 for adults and $15 for students in grades K-12. Tickets can be purchased from any YVHS music student or by using PayPal at www.yvmusic.org.
Eat out and help Alhambra High
Residents can support Alhambra High School student body and athletics by eating at Fresh Choice Restaurant at Sunvalley mall in Concord. Fresh Choice will donate a percentage of sales for diners eating from 4 to 9 p.m. Sept. 29 who present fliers at the time of purchase.

And Chavinda Mexican Restaurant, 514 Center Ave., Martinez, will donate a percentage of sales for diners eating in or take out from 5-8 p.m. Sept. 25 and Oct. 30. No fliers are needed. YV Christian sets school fundraiser
Ygnacio Valley Christian School's second annual silent auction fundraiser and dinner will take place from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 7, at Clayton Valley Church, 5430 Michigan Blvd., Concord.

Preschool has openings for fall
Loma Vista Parent Cooperative Preschool has openings for its prekindergarten/combo class which meets three days a week. There is also space available for the preschool class for 2-year-olds, which meets two days a week.

Annual Musicians Showcase for CP
The College Park instrumental music program will hold the ninth annual Musicians Showcase from 5 to 10 p.m. Friday, Oct. 2, at the Crowne Plaza, 45 John Glenn Drive, Concord.
The event includes dinner, live and silent auctions and entertainment by all six of the award-winning College Park High School music ensembles.
