OAKLAND -- All lanes of eastbound Interstate 580 were reopened at 98th Avenue after the California Highway Patrol investigated a crash that killed a motorcyclist late Monday, authorities said.
No one else was reported injured.
The crash was reported about 10:09 p.m., a CHP dispatcher said. Investigators are still trying to determine if any other vehicles were involved; several vehicles were stopped at the scene when officers arrived, but they may have been trying to assist the motorcyclist, the dispatcher said.
No information on the motorcyclist's identity was released. The highway will likely remain closed until at least midnight as the investigation continues.
