OAKLAND -- BART police are investigating how a person wound up underneath a train on the tracks at the Ashby Street station on Tuesday.
The person was taken to Alta Bates Medical Center in Oakland for evaluation, BART police Lt. Mike Hayes said. The person was uninjured, Hayes said.
The agency closed the station around 7 p.m. because of the incident, Hayes said. The person was able to climb out from beneath the train and sought assistance from a BART agent at the station, Hayes said.
The incident caused the station to be closed for a significant time, and the Fremont and Richmond lines ran about 15 minutes behind schedule for most of Tuesday evening.
