LIVERMORE -- A Livermore man was arrested early Friday on suspicion of drunken driving and other charges after he crashed into a fence and ran from police.
Just after midnight, police were called to a home in the 1400 block of Carnelian Lane, near Murdell Lane, to investigate a domestic battery report, said police spokeswoman Traci Rebiejo. When officers arrived, a woman at the scene refused assistance but she said the suspect drove off in a car she described to officers.
Just before 12:40 a.m., officers located the car but when they attempted to stop it, the driver sped off and drove through a nearby front yard and hit a fence in the 100 block of Diamond Drive.
The suspect, who police later identified as Kaleb Makepeace, 20, of Livermore, ran into the rear yard of a neighboring residence.
Police called in a police dog unit and officers found the suspect lying in the front yard of a nearby home.
Officers arrested Makepeace on suspicion of DUI, domestic battery and evading police.
