Green Day is celebrating the release of not one, but three upcoming studio albums with a small-venue tour that includes three Northern California dates.
The East Bay band, which has long ranked as one of the biggest rock bands on the planet, will perform at 9 p.m. Sept. 28 at the Fillmore in San Francisco. Tickets, priced at $49.50-$62.50, went on sale over the weekend at www.livenation.com and -- no surprise -- are already sold out.
Green Day also performs Dec. 1 at Memorial Auditorium in Sacramento, Dec. 4 at the Santa Cruz Civic Auditorium. Tickets for those shows go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday through www.axs.com.
The group, which consists of vocalist-guitarist Billie Joe Armstrong, bassist Mike Dirnt and drummer Tre Cool, will release the first in its trio of new albums — "Uno!" — on Sept. 25. That will be followed by "Dos!" on Nov. 13 and "Tre!" (as in Tre Cool) on Jan. 15.
