LIVERMORE-- A Livermore resident was shot in his home Saturday as he and several others attempted to resist intruders attempting to rob them, police said.
About 11:40 p.m., officers responded to a home on the 1600 block of Paseo Laguna Seco where residents reported several suspects had arrived intent on robbing the house, Officer Dave Blake said. The residents tried to resist the intruders, at which point one of the suspects pulled out a gun and shot one of the residents.
The would-be thieves fled from the home immediately following the shooting, Blake said. The victim was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
According to Blake, the incident is being investigated as both a home invasion robbery and attempted homicide. Police believe the robbery to be a targeted, isolated incident with a drug-related motive, and is not a threat to the general public.
No further information is available at this time, police said.
