As hard as it may be to believe, it seems that John Mayer and Katy Perry have broken up again.
That's right -- let it all out. Have yourself a good cry.
RadarOnline reported Monday the couple have called it quits -- again.
The singers dated through the first couple months of summer, until Mayer realized if he kept this up, he might have to buy her a birthday present, which might make her think he was about to propose. So they broke up.
Then they started dating again last month. Now there's a chill in the air and Mayer senses the holidays are coming and that whole buying gifts thing is closing in.
See you in January, kids.
Despite their best efforts, the relationship just wasn't working, according to RadarOnline's insider source, who said Mayer has a bit of a commitment problem (NO!) and kept "luring Katy back with promises that he was going to change, but then he didn't."
According to the source, Perry was looking for a more serious relationship than Mayer was willing to provide, and eventually she decided to stop wasting her time. Reports of the latest breakup come just a few weeks after Perry was said to have tried to take things to the next level, and gave Mayer a key to her Los Angeles home.
Big deal. Like she hasn't given us all one of those at some point.
Perry's divorce from Russell Brand was finalized in July, and she briefly dated Florence + the Machine guitarist Robert Ackroyd, before taking up her romance with Mayer.
