PLEASANTON -- Get a little bit spooky and have a whole lot of fun this Halloween season.
Activities start Oct. 20 with the Firehouse Fright Night Movie Festival, which will feature "Ghostbusters." Things get underway at 8:30 p.m. at the Parkside Patio behind the center at 4444 Railroad Ave.
Come dressed as a favorite character from the "Ghostbusters" movie and enjoy an appearance by the Bay Area Ghostbusters before the screening. Tickets are $10.
On Oct. 27, the movie festival continues at 10 p.m. with a showing of the film "Insidious." You can even act out a scene from the movie for a chance to win prizes. On Oct. 26 and 27, join city naturalist Eric Nicholas and Alviso Adobe Community Park docents for a walk around Meadowlark Dairy to learn about nocturnal animals in Pleasanton. The tour ends with making a Halloween craft. All ages are welcome to join in the 45-minute tours that start at 7 p.m. and continue to 8:30 p.m. It is $5 for residents and $7 for nonresidents.
The fourth annual Pumpkin Carving Party at Alviso Adobe is set for Oct. 27 from 1 to 3 p.m. The fee is $5 for residents, $7 for nonresidents. Preregister online at www.pleasantonfun.com or by phone at 925-931-5340.
For those who like sports, the seventh annual Halloween Fun Night on Oct. 26 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. will be held at the Pleasanton Tennis Complex on Hopyard Road and Valley Avenue.
Kids and adults can attend in costume to tour the Haunted Hallway of Horror, enjoy treats and tennis games including "Beat the Pro" and "Speed Serve." For more information, call 925-931-3446.
And the Pleasanton Library has a special free BATS! happening at 2 p.m. Oct. 27 when NorCal Bats will wing into town with naturalist Corky Quirk, who will show a mix of slides, a live web camera feed and several live bats as she introduces these important and endangered creatures.
