LIVERMORE -- They were spinning, and turning like colorful well-wound toys.

On Sept. 30, a group of about 30 athletes turned out for the first-ever Cartwheel-a-thon. Their challenge was to do as many of the dizzying moves in a row as possible, raising money for the Taylor Family Foundation.

There were gymnastic pros on hand for the event, as well as first-timers who got cartwheel tips from coaches on hand to help at the event held at West Coast Training Center on Wright Brothers Avenue.

For those who decided to sit out the spinning, there were carnival games and gymnastic demonstrations to watch.
