PLEASANTON -- Get your spook on with the second annual Halloween Spirit 5k Run & Walk and Kids Challenge, just in time for Halloween.

The race will be Sunday and is for all ages. Costumes are encouraged.

The race begins on Main Street near the Pleasanton Arch. Proceeds will benefit local and international goodwill projects of the Rotary Club of Pleasanton.

This year, the Spirit Run will benefit the Wheelchairs for the Needy program in partnership with the Wheelchair Foundation, and $5 of each registration fee will be given to a designated local school or school club.

All participants will receive a commemorative T-shirt, refreshments and a ticket for an after-race raffle.

The 5k run and walk starts at 9 a.m. Kids Challenge events begin about 10:15 a.m. Check-in and race-day registration opens at 7:30 a.m.

The cost to compete in the Kids Challenge, for ages 2 to 8, is $5 for preregistration and $10 on race day.

For elementary and middle school students, preregistration for the 5k run and walk is $20, $25 on race day. For adults and high school students, preregistration for the 5k is $30, $35 on race day.

For all events, preregistration for families of four or more is $20, $25 on race day.
