LIVERMORE -- Middle-school girls from the Tri-Valley will get hands-on experience with math and science careers at the Expanding Your Horizons Conference on March 2.

The daylong conference -- for girls in sixth through ninth grade from the Dublin, Livermore, Pleasanton, San Ramon Valley and Sunol school districts -- includes workshops, a group activity and a career fair. Young women will be able to meet with role models active in careers in math and science.

The conference begins at 8:30 a.m. in the Las Positas College gymnasium, 3000 Campus Hill Dr. Parents may also attend a workshop on college planning, academic requirements, financial aid and transferring to a four-year university.

There is a $20 charge for students, $15 per parent. There is room for 300 students and 30 parents.
