MARTINEZ -- A 20-year-old man who police said held up a mother and her child at gunpoint and then stole two firearms from their Danville home on Wednesday has been arrested.

Brendan Fagen of Danville was booked into the Martinez Detention Facility on two counts of kidnapping with intent to commit robbery, and one count each of burglary, robbery and false imprisonment and is being held in lieu of $2.2 million bail.

Police said Fagen broke into the home in the 1000 block of Fountain Springs Circle about 11:43 a.m. Wednesday.

When the homeowner returned home and saw Fagen, police said he pointed a gun at the woman and her child and held them hostage briefly. He forced them to move with him through the house before he left and ran away, police said.

Danville officers, along with a San Ramon police dog, combed the neighborhood just off Interstate 680 for the suspect and he was arrested later Wednesday without incident, police said Thursday. The stolen weapons have not been recovered, police said.

Anyone with information related to this case is urged to call Danville police detectives at 925-314-3700.
