PLEASANTON -- The Pleasanton Cultural Arts Council is seeking artists for a city-wide arts celebration on May 11, when chalk will be the medium for art in the streets.

The council is accepting applications from artists now through April 15. Each entrant will receive a 4-by-4-foot street painting square on Division between Railroad and Main streets, and a 12-pack of chalk. The cost is $125 per square.

Applications are available at http://www.the-big-draw.com/

"The Big Draw" will be the finale of a week of art events, including a line of uniquely painted pianos on Main Street for passersby to play the week of May 5.

Other May 11 events include performances of dance troupes and improv comedy, the Elephants for the Arts Tag Sale, Authors Row at Towne Center Books and more.

Proceeds benefit the Arts in the Schools Grant program.
