Boston University awarded academic degrees to Staci A. Morrison, of Livermore, who received a master of science in mass communications; and to Pleasanton residents David E. Kartchner and Eric W. Good, who received master of science degrees in computer information systems.

Santa Catalina School in Monterey has announced that sophomore Cecily Donovan, of Danville, and freshman Natalie Kiboneka, of Alamo, made the honor roll by earning GPAs higher than 3.3 for fall 2012 semester academic honors.

The 2013 American Legion District 9 Oratorical Contest, titled A Constitutional Speech, emphasizes the rights and responsibilities of the American people to the constitution. Anand Kannappan, a sophomore attending Dougherty High School, Danville, representing American Legion Post 246 of Danville, and who was the winner of the San Ramon Valley Unified School District competition, received the silver medal.

Pleasanton Police ChiefDave Spiller announced that this year's Pleasanton Police Department Professional Staff Member of the Year is six-year veteran Dispatch Supervisor Jackie Simon.

Officer Keith Batt is this year's Pleasanton Police Department Police Officer of the Year. Batt began working for the department in April 2001. He is a field training officer, a member of the department's arson investigation team and force options team and is a firearms instructor and armorer.
