Free practice SAT test open to all March 30
Students who want to practice their SAT test-taking skills can take a free mock test from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. March 30 at the Dublin public library, 200 Civic Plaza.
For registration information, visit www.kaptest.com/enroll/SAT/94568/events and use event code SKKJ3254 when signing up. The test is open to all; takers don't have to be Dublin residents.
Kaplan Test Prep will administer the test, which simulates actual SAT test conditions and results in a score being given. Test-takers are advised to bring two No. 2 pencils and a calculator.

Free job search training, counseling are available
Job seekers can get some help at the Pleasanton Library from an experienced employment recruiter.
The 20-minute sessions are free but must be signed up for in advance. For an appointment, call the Reference Desk at 925-931-3400, ext. 7. Sessions will provide help with resume writing, locating job websites and information on searching and applying for jobs online. The library is at 400 Old Bernal Ave.
Firehouse Arts Center is seeking volunteers
An orientation for Firehouse Arts Center volunteers
Volunteers must be 16 or older and are needed to be greeters, ushers and gallery docents. Attending the orientation is mandatory for any volunteers. Chalk artists wanted for 'Big Draw' in May
The Pleasanton Cultural Arts Council is seeking artists for a citywide arts celebration May 11, when chalk will be the medium for art in the streets.
The council is accepting applications from artists now through April 15. Each entrant will receive a 4-by-4-foot street painting square on Division between Railroad and Main streets, and a 12-pack of chalk. The cost is $125 per square. Applications are at http://www.the-big-draw.com.
"The Big Draw" will be the finale of a week of art events, including a line of uniquely painted pianos on Main Street for passers-by to play the week of May 5. Other May 11 events include performances of dance troupes and improv comedy, the Elephants for the Arts Tag Sale, Authors Row at Towne Center Books and more. Proceeds will benefit the Arts in the Schools Grant program.
