SAN RAMON -- Eleven-year-old Brianne "Breezy" Bochenek, of San Ramon, sped across a soccer field with her new artificial running leg recently during the second annual Breezy Collegiate Soccer Cup to raise money for disabled athletes.

Bochenek was accompanied by her mentor, Sarah Reinertsen of the Challenged Atheletes Foundation.

Bochenek's leg was amputated due to cancer more than a year ago. Recently fitted with a second artificial leg that is suited to sports, Bochenek and Reinersten ran across a soccer field at Dougherty Hills High School in San Ramon during half-time of a soccer match between the Stanford and UC Berkeley women's soccer team.

An estimated 1,500 people attended the soccer cup, which raised $25,000 for disabled athletes.
