LIVERMORE -- A man is being held without bail after officers arrested him when he failed to renew his sex offender registration, police said.

Justin Patrick Dumas, 39, turned himself in to Livermore police after detectives issued a warrant for his arrest on Tuesday.

According to police, Dumas was convicted in 1999 for sodomy by force. As a result of his conviction, he is required to register every year as a convicted sex offender.

Dumas was transported to Santa Rita Jail, where he was being held without bail.

According to police, Dumas's fate will be left to a judge's discretion.
