Carthage College, Kenosha, Wis, has announced their May graduate and local dean list student. Olivia Nino, Pleasanton, graduated with a bachelor of arts degree in Neuroscience. Taylor Holleschau of Danville earned dean's list.

Baylor University, Waco, Texas, has announced their Spring dean's list. From Danville, Claire Michelle Managan and Michael Scott Summers. From Pleasanton, Trevor Grant Bocian, Micaela L. Dougherty, Emily Adams Pluhowski and Connor Allen Wrenn.

Washington State University honors Local students. Recipients of the Spring 2013 President's Honor Roll, Washington State University, Pullman, WA. From Alamo: Mikalla Moran Hammitt, and from Pleasanton: Russell Alan Flock and Brian Gregory Hickel.

San Ramon student makes dean's list. Peter Heath has been named to the dean's list at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, Terre Haute, Ind. for the spring quarter. Peter is the son of Kathy and Larry Heath of San Ramon.

Danville Eagle Scout -- Matthew Curran of Alamo, the son of Barbara and Dennis Curran, has earned the rank of Eagle Scout, which was presented in June. He is a member of Troop 803 under the leadership of Scoutmaster Steve Giampaoli. For his Eagle community service project, Matthew planned, organized, and supervised the building of a retaining wall and 8 x 8 foot planter box at the Los Cerros Middle School in Danville. With the help of his friends, family, Scouts, and Leaders, he planted a California Redwood tree and constructed a bench within the planter box. A plaque will be placed on the bench to honor his cousin, Cpl. Mark R. Goyet, USMC, who was killed in action in Afghanistan in 2011.

Danville Eagle Scout -- Michael Vincent Nash of Troop 803 received his Eagle Scout award at his court of honor held in June. For his Eagle Scout project, Nash collected books, games and sports equipment and uniforms for Books for the Barrios. He is the son of Mary and Glenn Nash of Danville and a senior at Monte Vista High School.

Danville Eagle Scout -- Matthew Kyle Tillis earned the rank of Eagle Scout at his Court of Honor held at the Danville City Hall. For his Eagle project Matthew built 10 raptor perches for the Ironhorse Sanitary District in Brentwood. They are located on Jersey Island and were installed in November. He is the son of Ginger and Kevin Tillis of Danville and is a sophomore at San Ramon Valley High School.

Danville Eagle Scout -- Benjamin Mitchell Wischhover of Troop 803 received his Eagle Scout award at his Court of Honor held June 1 at the Danville Veterans Hall. For his Eagle project, Benjamin built a storage cabinet for the Taylor Family Foundation to store camp T-shirts. He is a senior at Monte Vista High School, Danville.

San Ramon Valley students took the Street Smarts Walk/Bike Challenge. From April 29 to May 10, more than 700 San Ramon Valley Students from 16 elementary schools were challenged to walk, bike skateboard or scooter to school. The school with the highest rate of participation was Greenbrook Elementary, Danville. Those students who logged at least half of all possible trips to school were eligible to win gift certificates to local bike shops. Winners were: Julia Urban, Sycamore Valley Elementary: $150 gift certificate to California Pedaler, Tristan Brown, Green Valley Elementary: $100 gift certificate to California Pedaler, Delasa Sheykhi, Montevideo Elementary: $50 gift certificate to Dublin Cyclery.
