SAN RAMON VALLEY -- Six new firefighters/paramedics have joined the ranks of the San Ramon Valley Fire Protection District.

The new members are Chris Conley, Chris Stevenson, Tony Romero, Chris Eberle, Michael Armario-Lyons and Ryan Bock Willmes, all of whom were sworn in Aug. 5 and took part in a badge-pinning ceremony with family and friends. The "Tassajara Firehawks," as the academy graduates named themselves, were introduced at the ceremony by Fire Chief Paige Meyer.

According to a fire district news release, in order to qualify, the new hires had to have required certifications, paramedic experience and attendance in a state fire marshal-approved Firefighter 1 academy before employment.
