DUBLIN -- A California Highway Patrol motorcycle officer was hospitalized Monday evening after he was struck by another driver and fell off his motorcycle on Interstate 580 near Dublin, CHP officials said.
The collision, which occurred about 3:40 p.m. in the westbound lanes near San Ramon Road, involved two other vehicles, one which rear-ended the motorcycle officer driving ahead of the crash, CHP Officer Eric Anderson said. The officer, who has not been identified, was thrown from his motorcycle, and he was taken to Valley Care Medical Center to be treated for minor injuries.
No one in either of the vehicles was injured, Anderson said. It was not immediately known how fast the vehicles were driving when the crash occurred.
All lanes of westbound I-580 were reopened as of 4:30 p.m., Anderson said. The investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing.
