PLEASANTON -- A nonprofit organization dedicated to raising funds to improve Pleasanton schools has scheduled its yearly culinary fundraiser next month.
Pleasanton Partnerships in Education will host the 10th annual "Toasts & Tastes of Fall," which will include a cocktail party, culinary competition and silent auction, said Susan Hayes, the organization's executive director.
The cooking contest will feature 15 teams competing in three separate categories: Savory, Sweet and Slow. Each squad will include a local chef, who will be assisted by a school principal and a community sponsor.
Juliette Goodrich of KPIX-TV will emcee the event, which also will feature live jazz music. The fundraiser will be from 6:30 to 10 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 19, at the California Center, 4400 Rosewood Drive, Pleasanton.
A no-host bar will be available. Guests must be 21 or older to attend.
Tickets are $75 and can be purchased at www.ppie.org. Tickets also can be bought by mailing personal checks to PPIE, 333 Division St., Pleasanton, CA 94566.
