SAN RAMON -- Dig into the roots of your family tree with two free San Ramon Library events to celebrate National Family History Month in October.
Get personalized help from genealogist Richard Finn on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. Finn will work with you to explore family histories by using online databases to search genealogy. Participants should bring a flash drive and any information they have about cities or towns where ancestors lived.
Details on births, marriages and death dates are helpful. All research is private and confidential.
And history detectives can pick up some tips from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday at a workshop on how to research family history. Sandra Burns of the San Ramon Valley Genealogical Society will present her popular presentation, "Do You Know Who You Are?"
She will explain how to start genealogy research and how to find helpful books, print resources, websites and databases. She will also explain where to go for one-on-one research assistance.
Both events will be held in the second-floor community meeting room at the San Ramon Library, 100 Montgomery St. The events are offered by the library in conjunction with the Genealogical Society.
