TRACY -- An 18-year-old man who police say shot into a jewelry store in the West Valley Mall on Friday has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder in connection with the shooting.

On Tuesday morning, Tracy police detectives and members of the department's SWAT team served a search warrant in the 800 block of Allegheny Court and arrested Lorenzo Hotel of Tracy without incident. He was booked into the San Joaquin County Jail. No one was hit or injured during the shooting and investigators are still trying to identify the intended target.

The shooting was reported about 4:45 p.m. when employees at a jewelry store in the mall said shots were fired outside their store. The shots may have been directed at someone inside the mall after an altercation, police said.

One round hit a door and another shattered the glass above the door. Police are not releasing additional information about the shooting as the investigation is ongoing.

San Leandro police have not released any additional information about a shooting the same afternoon at the Bayfair Mall. A 24-year-old man was wounded by gunfire in that shooting, which took place about 15 minutes before the Tracy shooting.

Anyone with information about the Tracy incident is asked to call 209-831-4847.
