LIVERMORE -- A cyclist struck and killed Thursday morning near Interstate 580 just outside Livermore has been identified.
The Alameda County Coroner's Office identified the man as 48-year-old Livermore resident Joe Segrest.
According to the California Highway Patrol, Segrest was struck and killed by a passing car around 11:10 a.m. on Carroll Road near Old Altamont Pass Road. CHP officials said Segrest was hit by a full-size van after he failed to stop at a stop sign while riding up Carroll Road.
The driver involved in the collision stopped at the scene and cooperated with investigators.
