CONCORD -- Clayton Valley High teachers who want to convert the Mt. Diablo district campus to a charter school began circulating their petition Thursday.
Organizers need 50 percent of teachers plus one to sign the petition before they can forward it to the school board for approval.
Teacher Pat Middendorf, who is helping to spearhead the effort, said she is aiming to get at least 37 signatures by the end of next week. Since school ends June 9, teachers are very busy and need time to read the document thoroughly, she said.
"People are pretty anxious to sign it," she said. "So, I think we're going to be fine."
