CONCORD -- The Mt. Diablo school board expects to act Friday to address "Cure and Correct" demands from two residents alleging that trustees violated state open meeting laws in their handling of contract extensions for the superintendent and four other top administrators.

The board discussed the allegations at its meeting Monday, but delayed action until it could meet again in closed session with a nonstaff attorney hired to advise the board and discuss legal questions. Although no date for the closed session meeting was set Monday, the agenda released Thursday included a special closed session on Friday afternoon to discuss the allegations.

The board will meet in open session at 7:30 p.m., during which time it will likely deliberate and vote on the allegations, which state that the board failed to provide copies of the new contracts to the public and did not have those contracts in hand when they voted to extend the contracts last April.

The meetings will take place in the district office at 1936 Carlotta Drive in Concord. The board is also expected to vote on the superintendent's performance evaluation.
