Tennyson High sophomore Christian Silva never played quarterback before this season.

After his performance in the Lancers' 35-8 victory over visiting Lowell-San Francisco on Saturday, it looks like Tennyson has found a long-term signal caller.

Silva completed all seven of his passes for 285 yards and two touchdowns, both in the first quarter. He had 149 yards passing in the first quarter, in which Tennyson (1-1) grabbed a 28-0 lead, and 245 yards passing by halftime.

"He can run and throw. He's perfect for the spread," said Tennyson coach Terry Smith about Silva, who also rushed for a 6-yard touchdown.

Xavier Thibodeaux also showed he is a big-play performer for the Lancers football team. The junior wide receiver had 77 and 72 yard touchdown receptions, with the last one giving Tennyson a three-touchdown lead less than six minutes into the game. Thibodeaux finished with four catches for 187 yards and also returned a punt 80 yards for a score.

Tennyson star Joshua Handy did not play Saturday due to an ankle injury, said Smith.

Lowell (0-2), which scored with four seconds left in the game, was paced by a game-high 110 yards rushing by Dillon Easterling.
