Chenault's Olympic bid falls short
Walnut Creek's Chelsea Chenault, pictured at the Santa Clara Grand Prix held in early June, just missed qualifying for a spot in the upcoming Olympic games. Chenault, a 17-year-old who will be a senior at Carondelet in the fall, competed in the middle distance freestyle events at the U.S. Olympic swimming team trials in Omaha last week. She took eighth in the 200-meter freestyle in 1:58.61. The top six finishers in that event will compete in London to give the 800-meter relay team depth. Chenault, who took eighth in the final, was 0.21 seconds off the sixth-place time.
