Nicholas "Niko" O'yang, 18, the son of

Linda Galloupe-O'yang and Frederick O'yang, has earned the rank of Eagle Scout, which he will receive in his Court of Honor ceremonies Nov. 14 at Crossroads Covenant Church in Concord.

He is a member of Boy Scout Troop 363, under the leadership of Scoutmaster Fred Fogg.

For his Eagle Scout community service project, O'yang created a walkway through a barren patch near Crossroads Covenant Church parking area, adding new plants, irrigation and tan bark after a major spruce-up of the area.

O'yang, of Walnut Creek, is a freshman at San Jose State University.

    Joseph Slusarz, 18, the son of Jeff and Liz Slusarz, has earned the rank of Eagle Scout, which he received at his Court of Honor ceremony at St. Luke's Lutheran Church in January.

    He is a member of Boy Scout Troop 226, under the leadership of Scoutmaster Tracy Benhamou.

    For his Eagle Scout community service project, Slusarz collected, repaired and donated used bikes to the Monument Community Partnership's Health Fair to help provide low-income families a means of transportation.

    Slusarz, of Walnut Creek, attends Cal Maritime Academy in Vallejo.
