Children who want to experience what it's like to attend school in another country have until March 30 to sign up for a unique student exchange program with Walnut Creek's sister cities Noceto, Italy or Siofok, Hungary.

Around 20 eighth graders will be chosen for the second ever YAE! (Youth Ambassador Exchange) program which will take place this fall and the spring of 2014.

Current seventh graders from Foothill Middle, Walnut Creek Intermediate and Seven Hills School are encouraged to apply. Those chosen will spend a week in either city meeting new people, learning about Hungary or Italy and shadowing local students.

Applications are due by March 30 followed up by parent information meetings and interviews. The estimated cost is between $1,500-$2,000 including airfare. Students will stay with host families in both cities.

For more information and to get an application call Walter Schick at 925-934-0656 or Karen Cassano at 925-944-1238.
