WALNUT CREEK -- A van containing many of the supplies needed to run the Diablo Valley Farmers Market in the Shadelands Business Park was stolen sometime Wednesday night, according to a director with the California Farmers' Markets Association.

The brand new, white 2013 Nissan van -- with California license plates "2MKT" -- is usually parked in the Citrus Center parking lot at Oak Grove Road and Citrus Avenue. The vehicle was found to be missing early Thursday morning, with broken glass found on the ground where it had been parked, said director Gail Hayden.

Police said some of the items stored in the van were later found in the Kaiser Permanente Medical Center parking lot at Wiget Lane and Mitchell Drive. The Diablo Valley Farmers Market takes place there each Saturday morning.

An assortment of signs, pop-ups, banners, cones, traffic signs and tables for children's craft corner had not been recovered by Thursday afternoon, Hayden added.

While the farmers market is expected to go on, Hayden said losing the van and supplies is a blow to the association.
