Walnut Creek Intermediate Principal Mike Cannon sent an alert to parents last week about a suspicious incident after school.

In an e-mail sent March 24, Cannon said a female student was approached on March 19 by a man driving a van and asked if she wanted to get in his car. She said she didn't and continued to walk home, according to Cannon.

The school is working with the Walnut Creek Police, but Cannon urged parents to talk with their children and remind them to never talk to strangers and walk in groups to and from school when possible.
