WALNUT CREEK -- Four teens from Northgate High have won the 11th District Congressional App Challenge with their "Unwind App," designed to help reduce stress.

The team, which calls itself the "Northgate STEM Girls," beat five other entries in the contest as part of a nationwide House Student App Challenge, Rep. George Miller announced. "Unwind" will be displayed in the U.S. Capitol along with the other winners.

The winning team includes Northgate Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics students Nishtha Chavda, Shion Andrew, Ami Yuen, and Michelle Liang. Judges also awarded an honorable mention to the "iPupil" app created by the team of Richard Chen, Charlotte Chen, Jon Rowland, and Kourosh Arasteh from Campolindo High School in Moraga; and the "Gravity!" app, created by Marc Davis from Acalanes High School in Lafayette, won staff favorite.
