OAKLAND -- Golden State Warriors players are encouraging Bay Area residents to continue using public transit by surprising BART riders with free BART tickets Thursday afternoon.

Two players, guard Stephen Curry and forward Ekpe Udoh, will board a San Francisco-bound BART train at the Rockridge station in Oakland just before 1:50 p.m., according to BART officials.

Curry and Udoh will hand out tickets and talk to riders about going "green" by continuing to use public transportation, BART officials said.

Team President Robert Rowell and TV analyst Jim Barnett will join in.

The group will hand out more tickets once the train arrives at San Francisco's Embarcadero station.
