Best eats in Canada

Air Canada's enRoute magazine is out with its 2012 list of Canada's best new restaurants, and the winners are all over the map -- culinarily speaking, that is.

Among the honorees are the Keriwa Cafe in Toronto, where the chef's Blackfoot and Nova Scotian heritage inform his cuisine; Pastaga in Montreal, whose menu reflects the city's French and Jewish populations; and Model Milk in Calgary, a 1930s dairy turned into a wholesome comfort-food retreat.

(Curiously absent: Vancouver and the rest of British Columbia.)

You'll find the winners, the food-porn photos and the travel app details at www.enroute.aircanada.com.

Pride of Pismo

The California Lodging Industry Association has given its 2012 Award for Excellence to the SeaCrest OceanFront Hotel in Pismo Beach. The independent hotel, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary, was honored for its multiyear, multimillion-dollar marketing, branding and upgrade projects. Details: www.seacrestpismo.com.
