Justin Timberlake denied taking a shot at ex-girlfriend Britney Spears during his comeback gig over Super Bowl weekend in New Orleans.

According to Wenn, Timberlake performed for the first time in five years Saturday night. He performed a number of his hits, including "Cry Me a River," the song he wrote after splitting with Spears in 2002.

Before the song, Timberlake said "Sometimes in life, you think you found the one. But then one day you find out that she is just some (expletive)."

Don't beat around the bush, JT. Tell us how you really feel.

Of course, the comment sparked outrage among Spears' fans on Twitter. Timberlake responded by tweeting his denial that it was about Spears: "OK. I see you. Wouldn't disrespect ANYONE personally. Ever. Relax ... ."
