HERCULES -- Hanna Ranch Elementary School, 2480 Refugio Valley Road, will hold its annual flag-raising ceremony Friday in celebration of the nation, the state, and the school's excellence.
The school, which is out in the Refugio Valley, won a California Distinguished School Award last year. As part of the honor, the school received a special flag to fly together with the American flag and the California state flag.
Now the flag-raising has become an annual event to inspire school pride and spirit.
Friday's event will include a playing and explanation of the various bugle calls, from "Reveille" through "Taps" and "Retreat," and a singing of "The Star-Spangled Banner" as well as inspirational marching music.
The Call to Reveille will be at 8:45 a.m.; To the Colors, at 9 a.m.; Retreat, at 9:30 a.m.
There will be inspirational speeches and local dignitaries have been invited.
