RICHMOND -- The U.S. Chemical Safety Board, one of the agencies investigating last summer's massive fire at the Chevron refinery, will hold a public meeting April 19 to present the interim report and safety recommendations from its probe.
The meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. at the Richmond Memorial Auditorium and Convention Center, 403 Civic Center Plaza, Richmond. Following the board's presentation, it will hear from invited panel members and the public, then consider whether to approve the interim report and recommendations.
Production at the crude unit has been suspended since the Aug. 6 accident, which sent 15,000 residents in the surrounding area to medical facilities seeking treatment for respiratory problems and other ailments.
Preregistration for the April 19 meeting is encouraged but not required. The public can preregister by sending an email to email@example.com. For more information about the safety board, visit www.csb.gov.
