The Berkeley man who died Monday after crashing his SUV in Santa Cruz County has been identified, authorities said Tuesday.

Timur Chetin, 61, was driving his 2000 Ford Expedition west on Jamison Creek Road in Boulder Creek on Monday afternoon when the vehicle went off the road and crashed about 60 feet down a dirt embankment near Empire Grade Road, according to California Highway Patrol officer Bradley Sadek. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

No other cars were involved and no one else was injured. Chetin, who was not wearing a seat belt, was found about 20 feet from his vehicle, police said.
