HAYWARD -- Wells Fargo presented checks to 15 school foundations and school representatives at an event in the Alameda County of Office of Education in Hayward on Wednesday.
Bank officials vowed to continue to provide funding for financial and other education to public schools in Alameda and Contra Costa Counties. The checks presented this week amounted to $240,000, said Wells Fargo spokeswoman Mariana Phipps, including a $35,000 check for the West Contra Costa Public Education Foundation in Richmond.
Other recipients of Wells Fargo money included public education foundations in Berkeley, Oakland, Alameda, Albany and Hayward.
Micky Randhawa, East Bay president for Wells Fargo who presented the grants, said in a prepared statement that "In addition to the countless hours that our team members spend volunteering in local schools, we are proud to provide funding to schools throughout the East Bay."
