HERCULES -- Lynx express buses, which connect Hercules/Rodeo with San Francisco's Transbay terminal, will not operate during the Bay Bridge closure starting Wednesday and continuing through the Labor Day weekend.

The bridge will be closed in both directions from 8 p.m. Wednesday to 5 a.m. Sept. 3. There will be no Lynx service Wednesday through Sept. 2, its operator, WestCAT, announced.

Passengers headed to San Francisco on Thursday and Friday can take a JX bus, rerouted for the occasion to accommodate Hercules and Rodeo riders, to the El Cerrito Del Norte BART station, where they can take the train to San Francisco. Because Monday is Labor Day, the only WestCAT service will be the JR and JL Express bus on a Sunday schedule.

The JX route will operate as follows on Thursday and Friday:

  • 5:09 a.m. to 8:40 a.m. from Hercules/Rodeo, the JX will serve the Lynx stops at Willow Avenue, Victoria by the Bay and the Hercules Transit Center.

  • 5:41 a.m. to 8.11 a.m. from El Cerrito Del Norte BART, the JX will stop at Hercules Transit Center, Bio-Rad Laboratories and Willow Avenue.

  • 3:39 p.m. to 8:36 p.m. from El Cerrito Del Norte BART, the JX will stop at Hercules Transit Center, Willow Avenue and Victoria by the Bay.

  • 4:04 p.m. to 8:19 p.m. to Hercules/Rodeo, the JX will stop at Willow Avenue, Victoria by the Bay, Bio-Rad and the Hercules Transit Center, then return to El Cerrito Del Norte BART.

WestCAT Lynx passengers also can take JPX and J buses to and from El Cerrito Del Norte BART. The 31-day Lynx pass is valid on all WestCAT routes. During the bridge closure, 10-ride Lynx pass holders should not insert the pass into the farebox but instead show it to the driver, WestCAT said.
