AC Transit invites bus patrons and the public to a community meeting from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Oct. 16 in the Richmond City Council Chambers, 450 Civic Center Plaza, to discuss a new fare structure now under consideration.

Changes in the proposal would include introducing a local day pass and eliminating transfers; adjusting local pass prices; and offering discounts on local Clipper fares.

The day pass would allow unlimited local rides all day for $5 for adults and $2.50 youths, seniors and the disabled. The pass would be available with either Clipper Card or cash.

"No fare increases are being proposed," according to the district. "All cash fares would remain the same for both local and transbay services."

The meeting is one in a series being held by the transit district in communities in its service area.

A detailed outline of the fare proposal is online at www.actransit.org.
