NORTH RICHMOND -- A full day of free family entertainment is offered at the fourth annual North Richmond Green Festival from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 19 at Shields Reid Park and Community Center, 1410 Kelsey St.

The day will offer free food; free blueberry bushes, pomegranate trees and olive trees for home planting; T-shirts; reusable water bottles; live entertainment; arts and crafts; jump houses and children's activities; and community information booths.

The festival, a celebration of ongoing efforts to "improve the environment and the health of the community," follows a morning volunteer beautification project planting flowers at the community center and at the North Richmond Missionary Baptist Church. Volunteers are welcome to participate.
