RICHMOND -- A birthday party for a 5-year-old turned into the scene of a stabbing early Monday that resulted in one arrest, police said.
Richmond resident Rando Rangel, 35, was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon after police said he took out a knife and began waving it during an argument that broke out among adults at the party. A victim, whose gender police did not give, tried to take the knife away from Rangel and wound up getting slashed in the wrist, Richmond police Sgt. Nicole Abetkov said.
That person was taken to a hospital, where he was treated and released, Abetkov said.
Police did not say what sparked the argument.
